Non-Personal Information

Even if you do not register with or provide any Personal Information to DLHA, we collect Non-Personal Information about your use of the DLHA Web Sites. “Non-Personal Information” means information that does not specifically identify an individual person. We may also acquire Non-Personal Information about our users from external sources. While you may use some of the functionality of DLHA without registration, many of the specific tools and services on the DLHA Web Sites require that you register with DLHA.

Cookies and Web Beacons

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information through your use of our Sites. This information may include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, the files viewed on our site (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data.

“Cookies” are small data files that are stored on the hard drive of the computer you use to view a web site. Every computer that accesses the DLHA Web Sites is assigned a different Cookie by DLHA. “Web Beacons” are graphic image files imbedded in a web page typically used to monitor activity on a web page and send back to its home server (which can belong to the host site, a network advertiser or some other third party) information from your browser, such as the IP address, the URL of the page on which the Web Beacon is located, the type of browser that is accessing the site and the ID number of any Cookies on your computer previously placed by that server.

Third parties under contract with DLHA may use Cookies or Web Beacons to collect Non-Personal Information about your usage of the DLHA Web Sites, including which health topics you have viewed. These third party advertising service providers may use this information to help DLHA deliver advertising on the DLHA Web Sites as well as on other sites on the Internet based on your browsing activity on our sites. DLHA may further tailor the advertising on DLHA and these third party sites based on additional Non-Personal Information to the extent known by DLHA or these third parties. Two of the third parties that DLHA works with are Google and Facebook. In addition to using the Non-Personal Information it collects performing services for DLHA Google may also use such information as described in its privacy policy. To see how Google may use information collected through our use of the Google services on the DLHA Web Sites visit https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners. While Facebook does not provide any personal information to DLHA, Facebook may use information that it has about you and that it collects performing services for DLHA (which may be associated with personal information that Facebook has about you) as described in its privacy policy available at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy.

Mobile Enabled Applications (“Apps”) and Mobile Optimized Sites

Some of our Apps, require that you be registered and signed in to use them. Some of our Apps, allow you to use many features without being registered but require that you are signed in as a registered user in order to use some features. The information that we collect through your use of these Apps and tools will be treated as Personal Information under this Privacy Policy.

When you download and install one of our DLHA Mobile Apps onto your mobile device we assign a random number to your App installation. This number cannot be used to identify you personally, and we cannot identify you personally unless you choose to become a registered user of the App. We use this random number in a manner similar to our use of Cookies as described in this Privacy Policy. Unlike Cookies, the random number is assigned to your installation of the App itself and not a browser, because the App does not work through your browser. Therefore the random number cannot be removed through settings. If you do not want us to use the random number for the purposes for which we use Cookies, please do not use the Mobile Enabled Apps. Because some of the content on our Mobile Enabled Apps directs your mobile device to our website you will be exposed to the Cookies that we use and to third party Cookies that may be contained in advertisements that we do not control and will be unable to delete any of these Cookies with your mobile device. Therefore, if you do not want to be Cookied when you use your mobile device you should not use our Mobile Apps and you should set your mobile device to reject Cookies when you use our mobile optimized sites.

Our use of Cookies and Web Beacons on our mobile optimized sites are similar to our use on our desktop sites. Your choices to reject Cookies, use the Network Advertising Initiative described below in the section "What Choices Do I Have" are available on our mobile optimized sites. If you have questions about how to reject Cookies on your specific device please check with the device manufacturer.

Non-Personal Information Collected by Third Parties Not Acting on DLHA’s Behalf

Sponsors or advertisers on the DLHA Web Sites may use their own Cookies, Web Beacons or other online tracking technologies in the banner advertisements and sponsored links and on the pages ("Brand Pages") on the DLHA Web Sites that consist solely of advertisements or other content from our advertisers. This advertiser content may also be served in emails, special promotions or newsletters we send you. Their advertisements may be displayed on the DLHA Web Sites or on other sites that you visit after you visit the DLHA Web Sites. Some advertisers use companies other than DLHA to serve their ads and to monitor users' responses to ads, and these ad servers may also collect Non-Personal Information through the use of Cookies or Web Beacons on the DLHA Web Sites.

While we generally permit the use of these third party cookies on the assumption that they comply with our Advertising Policy and we assist our advertisers with the placement of cookies or beacons on Brand Pages, we do not control how third parties use Cookies or Web Beacons or how they manage the Non-Personal Information they gather through the use of these technologies on the DLHA Web Sites and we may be unable to verify compliance with our Advertising Policy. To see how Google may use information collected through your use of Google's search services on the DLHA Web Sites visit https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners.
